Youtube to Archive Project - Midwestern Region version Goals of the Project lower barriers to archiving digital media complement centers' existing practice increase number of centers that archive their video give policy makers visibility into the scope and size of diverse activities of access centers/PEG stations two parts to the project: catalog & generate statistics on access center/PEG station use of Youtube and Vimeo archive the metadata and video from Youtube/Vimeo to Internet Archive currently in the cataloging phase first large scale tests of the concept - 28,000 Youtube videos uploaded to the Community Media Archive statistics will be free, archiving may become a fee based service "you focus on improving the metadata, we'll do the archiving" the Community Media Archive will remain a free "Do It Yourself" archive effort shoutout to Dakota Media Access for getting their archives established on the Community Media Archive and continuing to upload they have over 1,400 videos archived on the Internet Archive Dakota Media Access - https://archive.org/details/dakotamediaaccess the Royal Society for the Arts, Peak Moment, the Big History Project, TED Talks and Rompeviento TV collections are the first examples of Youtube channels uploaded to archive.org.
