Youtube to Archive Project - Midwestern Region version

Goals of the Project
lower barriers to archiving digital media
complement centers' existing practice
increase number of centers that archive their video
give policy makers visibility into the scope and size of diverse activities of access centers/PEG stations

two parts to the project:
catalog & generate statistics on access center/PEG station use of Youtube and Vimeo
archive the metadata and video from Youtube/Vimeo to Internet Archive

currently in the cataloging phase
first large scale tests of the concept - 28,000 Youtube videos uploaded to the Community Media Archive

statistics will be free, archiving may become a fee based service
"you focus on improving the metadata, we'll do the archiving"

the Community Media Archive will remain a free "Do It Yourself" archive effort
	shoutout to Dakota Media Access
for getting their archives established on the Community Media Archive and continuing to upload
they have over 1,400 videos archived on the Internet Archive
