Youtube to Archive Project - Central States Region version Goals of the Project lower barriers to archiving digital media complement centers' existing practice increase number of centers that archive their video give policy makers visibility into the scope and size of diverse activities of access centers/PEG stations make the ephemeral permanent two parts to the project: catalog & generate statistics on access center/PEG station use of Youtube and Vimeo archive the metadata and video from Youtube/Vimeo to Internet Archive currently in the cataloging phase first large scale tests of the concept - 28,000 Youtube videos uploaded to the Community Media Archive statistics will be free, archiving will probably be a fee based service "we'll do the archiving, you improve the metadata" Jenn Ramsay, Northampton Community TV adds a "tags:" line in youtube description that can be mapped to archive.org subject/keywords fields the Community Media Archive will remain a free "Do It Yourself" archive effort shoutout to Citicable for getting Cincinnati's government access channel established on the Community Media Archive and continuing to upload Citicable - https://archive.org/details/citicable the Royal Society for the Arts, Peak Moment and Big History Project collections are the first examples of Youtube channels uploaded to archive.org.
